It is fair to say I collect items for a reason the attracted pic is of my Stromberg – Carlson radio Model number 4A17 manufactured in Sydney in 1940. It was given to me by my Grandfather in the middle 60’s. Why I painted it an ordinary brown colour I not sure. However I did install the toggle switch off-on probably because I couldn’t reach the wall plate from my bed. I was at the time an apprentice Electrical Fitter and Armature Winder a trade I left the day my five years was up, to say I hated it is an understatement . Besides listening to Roy Orbison, Gene Pitney, Elvis and the Eagles. My radio could clearly pick up 2GB and I would listen to John Tapp and Ray Warren call the Wenty and Harold Park dogs. Zoom Top and many other favourites brought me great joy. My first visit to Sydney at 17 on the Spirit Of Progress took us to many tracks from Dapto to Gosford in the two weeks my mate Kevin and I were there. We also met John and Ray who responded to a letter I wrote to them. So it will be sad on Friday night to be at the close of Wentworth Park, what a venue.
