Ken Carr Medal 2015-2016 John Reid

Remembering some past Kenn Carr Medal winners 2015-2016 my good friend John Reid.

John Reid named the 2015/16 Ken Carr Medallist

John Reid has been awarded the prestigious Ken Carr Medal at tonight’s 2015/16 Victorian Greyhound Awards at the Sandown Greyhound Racing Club.

Minister for Racing, Martin Pakula (above) presented Reid with the award, based on his tremendous contribution to greyhound racing administration.

The Ken Carr Medal is named in honour of the late Kenneth Russell Carr, a leading Victorian greyhound racing administrator who devoted his working life towards the betterment of greyhound racing in this state and across Australia.

Over more than two decades, John Reid has held roles with Victoria’s:
– Greyhound Owners Trainers & Breeders Association (GOTBA)
– Helping Hand Fund
– Greyhound Owners & Breeders Incentive Scheme (GOBIS), and
– Responsible Breeding Taskforce

John’s willingness to volunteer countless hours to impart his knowledge on greyhound racing speaks volumes about his passion for the sport and his love for the greyhound.

“For the first time in my life I’m speechless,” said Reid, son on GRV Hall of Fame trainer, Peter Reid. “Tonight has blown me away.”

“I have so many friends in this room and am so lucky to have been born into a greyhound racing family.”
Reid was taken aback when, during his acceptance speech, his family joined him on stage.

Nurtured and developed by the Victorian Greyhound of the Year panel in the year 2000, the Ken Carr Medal is considered the highest award for excellence within the Victorian greyhound racing industry.
