We have spoken many times here of the achievements of Rod Deakin, he retired in 1981. Noel Christensen put this two-page spread together at the time, very interesting stuff. However, the names of the dogs on the first page I think sums up why the Hall of Famer is held in such awe. He didn’t actually retire he went and managed the Macau Canidrome for five years. Racing six days a week. I recall him telling me all about it and how much he enjoyed it.
Howard Gray – All round champion, champion breeder, champion rearer, champion trainer….and a champion bloke. with absolutely no airs and graces despite his unbelievable success in our sport.
