The great Bill Fletcher with May Moss
Jeff Collerson – May Moss was a wide runner and handy but nowhere near Bill’s best. When Sir Charles Court presented Bill with the trophy after Acclaim Star won the Nat Sprint C/ship in Perth in 1979 Bill had to reply. He thanked sponsors, club etc and turned to the premier of WA and said: “What’s your name again mate?” Sir Charles, obviously a good sport, replied “Charlie Court” So Bill said “and thanks also to Charlie Court here” The crowd loved it!!!
