I have been lucky enough to attend a number of flash functions over the years. I remember we a couple during the International Topgun days on top of a Government building in Spring Street overlooking Melbourne. Planned for many months, he couldn’t make it or didn’t want to and sent the office boy along. I remember the night well I sat next to opposition Racing Minister Denis Napthine who found time to make it to Sandown from the Western District.

Eddie Caruana – He also came to The meadows a couple of times, he lived in Essendon. Neil is right he wasn’t seen very often.
