They certainly sent their dogs around in the 1950’s. Here is reports from the Sporting Globe. Two starts of the Victorian scene The Reviver 248 starts for 68 wins 41 seconds and 45 thirds. Plus, the mighty Grey Bob 229 starts for 76 wins 42 seconds and 34 thirds. I am not sure what their final stats were but pretty impressive up to January 1951.
Doug Scott: Yes it wasn’t unusual to have 2;3:or 4 starts a week also a lot of handicap racing and of course the back marker went back on the outside which is different to later years…doug
