Paul Spitz contacted me asking if had anything on a dog his dad raced named Blazing Bub. The versatile brindle bitch whelped August 1995 by Tangaloa from Leader’s Blaze was trained throughout her career by Charlie Spiteri from Morwell. She raced 89 times for 16 wins and 26 placings, winning appox. $16,000 in stakes . The highlight was a win in the 1988 Sir John Dillon at Sandown. She beat a crack field including 5/4 fav High Intensity and Joe Hili’s other star Lady Paragon. Starting 9/4 she missed the start but quickly railed to the lead and was not challenged winning in 43.96. Blazing Bub won her maiden at her second start at Traralgon over 513. During her career she won at Warragul 424, Sandown 511 &716, Cranbourne 520, Sale 630 and Olympic Park over 732. She didn’t start over the distance until March 88 winning first up at Sandown in a Best of the Night 43.51. Note the author of the Greyhound Weekly story is the Front Bar’s Andy Maher. Everyone starts somewhere.
