The time-honoured Laurels final will be run at Sandown on Thursday night. First run on the 13th of August 1964 it was won by Tara Princess trained by the great Syd Barrett. Mr McDonnell is related to the Bartholomew’s from Mount Gambier who won the last race at Sandown on Thursday night with the smart Divine Nature for trainer Matt Lanigan. The family has kindly donated the original winning sash to the Sandown Museum.
