Plenty of Greyhound Racing covered on Radio in 60’s and early 70’s in Victoria. I didn’t remember Bert tipping on the dogs.
Eddie Caruana – Bert loved to bet in the dogs Neil.
Des Dooley– The regionals also broadcast the local dogs. Tom Shillington broadcast Ballarat. Apparently worked in the railways and rode his bike to the track.
Howard Gray– Who can forget legends like Maurie and Wayne Kirby back then.
Des Dooley– Wayne got his start when Maurie had a health episode mid race. He stepped up to the mike and completed the call.
Maureen Stephens– I can remember my Mum always tuning in to 3XY at either 10.30 or 11pm to listen to all replays and results of city meetings.
Coral Scott– It was great to win a race at Olympic park then listen to the replay on the way home…doug
