South Australians may remember when the SA Dog Racing Control Board took over on February 1st 1977. Some great names in this story many stalwarts of the industry over many years in SA.
Gary Smith – I remember taking a dog over to race with a top Melbourne trainer on a hot day and Howard Ashton let us camp in his air conditioned office until kennelling time, what a nice bloke Howard was.
Neil Brown – Still going strong Howard super bloke GCA Hall of Famer.

Eddie Caruana – A super bloke indeed definitely biggest name in SA greyhound racing history. Howard’s son Graham was Victoria’s Police Commissioner for many years.
Neil Brown – Interestly Ed Graham wrote a hugh report for the SA Govenment on whats wrong with the sport and what they need to fix.
Graham Fischer – Some wonderful administrators and people in the pic. Sadly most have passed.
